Beer Mirror

This was a fun project I created for a friend looking for a unique gift for a relative with their own basement bar. The concept was one they thought of after seeing some vintage bar mirrors while out at the pub.

The mirror itself is composite image comprised of a headshot with the colonial hat, with photo edited additions to finish the dress and details. The image was then etched into the backside of the mirror and backed with white to give contrast to the details. I chose to remove the white backing of the name to let the wood texture come through in the finished piece.

The frame of this mirror was custom designed and fabricated by me as well. It's an original design that was custom engraved, cut, and assembled just for this project. It is comprised of both oak mdf core and oak plywood, clear coated to bring out the grain and glow of the wood.

I'm really happy with how this one turned out and look forward to working with mirrors again in the future.
